The Epistle of Galatians - Dennis Alabi
The Book of Galatians is a powerful declaration that the Christian life begins and continues by grace through faith, not by adding human effort or legalistic requirements to Christ's finished work. Paul argues that justification comes by faith, not the Law, and that Christ frees believers from the Law's condemnation, enabling them to live by the Spirit and express faith through love. It's a call to freedom, emphasizing a new identity as God's children, empowered by the Spirit to bear spiritual fruit, not bondage to rules. Core themes in Galatians are:
Justification by Faith: You are made right with God solely by trusting in Jesus, not by obeying the Mosaic Law.
Freedom in Christ: Jesus sets you free from the Law's curse, giving you freedom to live for Him, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
The Role of the Law: revealed sin and pointed to Christ, but cannot save; Christ fulfilled the Law's purpose.
The Fruit of the Spirit: Paul contrasts life in the Spirit with the works of the flesh, urging believers to use their freedom in Christ to serve one another and live as a "new creation".
The Epistle of 1 John - George Hillman
The Book of 1 John provides believers with a basis for assurance of their salvation and counters false teachings regarding the nature of Christ.
This verse-by-verse study will cover the core message of 1 John with themes such as
God is Light: Believers are called to live in holiness and honesty, confessing sins rather than hiding them.
God is Love: Authentic faith is proven by sacrificial love for other believers; one cannot love God while hating their neighbor.
The Incarnation: John teaches that Jesus is fully God and fully man, a direct rebuttal to early heresies denying Christ’s physical body.
